From Activism and Advocacy to Consulting

Born from and anchored in an extensive history of leadership in policy advocacy and community outreach, the Racial Equity Association brings a fresh perspective and an innovative approach to the work of eradicating systemic racism. Racial Equity Association offers professional and managed systemic racism eradication services in four broad areas:

  1. Program Assessment

  2. Program Development and Management;

  3. Data Strategy Development and Management

  4. Administration and Organizational Integration.

Our ability to create and deliver such a novel approach is rooted in the experience that we have gained through racial justice activism and the corresponding policy advocacy. From the successful implementation of a Statewide Executive Director of Racial Equity to the deployment of a Race Traffic Stop Dashboard, our Principle and partners have been at the forefront of the work and understand the framework of how to get it done.

Date Driven Approach

Systemic racism eradication starts and ends with data.  Data enables us to move from antidotal assertions to data driven discussions, inform and shape policies and enable us to measure our progress towards parity. From the early days of data collection to a place where all 79 law enforcement agencies in Vermont are legislatively mandated to collect data, our Principle and partners have been engaged. We have gained the perspectives from hundreds of organizations, agencies and community members; engaged in countless hours of legislative testimony; crafted and proposed transformative policy and deployed an unprecedented data dashboard. The Racial Equity Association was founded with data in mind and we don’t do anything without it.

Programmatic Framework

Our programmatic framework was created based upon the work of our Principle and partners in the development of Act 9 (2018, special), the Vermont Racial Equity Executive Director (and Panel) and countless hours of engagement with organizations, agencies and community members. The Racial Equity Association Systemic Racism Eradication Framework consists of collection of racially disaggregated data; the promulgation of fairnesses and diversity policy; the existence of systemic racism eradication training; processes for policy racial impact assessments; processes to ensure racially-cognizant appointment, hiring and promotion processes and, progress towards full Human Resource Department integration, to ensure individual accountability.
